Discipline My Appetite

Another way to elevate yourself…

For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.”

-Galatians 5:17 NIV

Please allow me to share with you…

As I am currently witnessing the power of self-discipline

thus far, I have concluded that I need to “discipline my appetite”

As in-

Yes, my emotions bombard me daily

Yes, my desires persist irresistibly-

still refusing to feed my flesh

For I am not living for me but for

Him

My creator, who ordained me for something

greater…

I refuse to fall short of the abundant blessings that await me

I refuse to fall short simply because I love myself that “badly”

See we have it all twisted, my loves

It is not for us to solely love ourselves and be in love with

ourselves

Rather, for us to love Him and be in love with

Him

That is when He releases that abundance

like bursting water balloons

imagine…

cool, refreshing water from the Spring of Eternal Life

splashing

all. over. you.

Refreshing, my loves

His blessings are

refreshing

A reminder that we are of greatness

For our creator is of Greatness

His love is

refreshing…

A love

so, so deep

It hurts when we ponder on how and why He loves us

so, so deep

Relax and give it all to Him

For He said He has taken our burdens upon Himself

All we must do is follow

So long as we follow

May our love never be shallow

May our dreams never be hollow

The point was to give up on relying on the power of the flesh

and to give into the power of the Spirit

Once I realized I am not living for me

I understood clearly

Why I was uncomfortable in everything new

Because new meant room for change

time to rearrange

no matter how awkward or strange I may feel

“I” is irrelevant

when the goal is to live for Him-

the core of my being

again, for Him

I want to tune into

Him

I want to be used by

Him

to be beautifully broken and meticulously made new

by Him

If I could make this self-sacrifice

I know you can too…
