My lady, Your Eyes are on the Wrong Heart

For the ladies who aren’t truly satisfied with their season of singleness

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”-Matthew 6:33 KJV

May I share this with you?

I found myself overthinking and avoiding opportunities because I wanted to isolate myself from others and dwell in my “loneliness”. I didn’t feel like it was necessary to connect. Simultaneously, I also found myself taking part in things just to fill a void and keep me busy until one of my prayers were answered. I just needed a distraction, so my mind could stop pondering on

the only guy I wanted to be with.

Whether it was to keep me busy or distracted, the wrong people, extracurriculars, and additional activities could not satisfy me. I realized I needed to invest my time wherever pushed me into honoring God and showing others His love. This type of investment is the best way for me to serve Christ and be obedient, which yields the fulfillment that I long for. By investing in God-serving and God-honoring matters, I am not simply killing time but rather making the most out of my time, to progress my spiritual journey.

You are probably wondering why all of that sounded so vague…

This is what I am getting at:

Many young women who want to live Christian lives and build a relationship with God dream to be married. Many of us want to be this honorable Proverbs 31 woman with a husband who we can build an empire with, to bring God glory. While this is wonderful, if all we are looking forward to is being in a relationship and then being married

we have missed the point.

We are not serving God and performing “good deeds” simply because we want God to reward us. Living for God is more than expecting a prayer to be answered. That’s actually a selfish motive for being Christian. Deuteronomy 6:5 reminds us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength. If you truly love God, you are willing to give up your desires and let God give you His. Love is about giving, as 1 Corinthians 13:5 reminds us love is not self-seeking.

Furthermore, we are not “serious” about our faith just to “win” the attention or affection of a man. We are on this journey because God called us to lead the Earth in uniting His people and living holy, loving, and pure lives all to bring Glory to our creator. Those who choose to live Christ-like lives are supposed to live in truth. This truth is that God, the Father who sent His only son Jesus Christ, is the creator of all things Good, all things seen, and all things unseen. The core purpose of God’s chosen people, is to encourage others to live in accordance to His will.

So, if you are chosen yet are not focused on this purpose, you are not truly living for God in your heart. Your outer deeds are not sufficient to live for Him. Your heart needs to be aligned with His purpose. Your motives need to be aligned with His purpose.

We live for God simply because of who He is. This is the God who pours blessings on those who live in righteousness. This is the God who is patient with those who live in wickedness.

This is the God that gives His grace generously…

to everyone

This God is worthy of glory and praise

We do not deserve any of his blessings, grace, or patience

But God gives these things simply because He Loves us

We need to reciprocate this Love with our heart, soul, and our strength

That is what it truly means to have a relationship with God

It is not about what He can do for us, rather what can we do for Him?

He delivered us when we were at our lowest points–

through past heartbreaks, failures, depression, sickness, doubt, etc

We need to focus on God’s immediate calling on our lives

What is He telling you to do today?

Tomorrow is not for certain, so why sulk over it?

If we dwell in eagerness, we will overlook the opportunities of today and may face disappointment when what we hoped for does not work in our favor

But God knows that you desire to be in a relationship and married, and He will not disappoint you.

So why don’t we rest and stay focused?

Yes, our future husband is another crucial decision we will make in life. But God will and has handled that already.

So, again, why can’t we rest?

Maybe we don’t truly trust God

Maybe we don’t truly love God…

After all, how can you actually trust someone you do not love?

Refuse to let yourself idolize a romantic relationship

Refuse to let yourself idolize marriage

In fact, you do not need to be in a romantic relationship or be married! I know this sounds unrealistic but Jesus lived a single life. Yet, He was filled with joy, love, peace, long-suffering, and patience. He still had power. He still lived a fulfilled life. He still pleased God.

God favors the single, and He has already given you what you need to be fulfilled. But we need to activate that which has already been given–

joy, love, peace, long-suffering, and patience

Will you still love God if you never got married?

Will you still be kind and serve others, volunteer, mentor, teach, and share the Good Word and do all these “good deeds” if God did not answer that one prayer?

Will you still be that Proverbs 31 woman?

Press for a “yes” and check your attitude, intentions, and motives

God is not obligated to give us what we want, but He keeps His word!

The Lord said “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

But here’s the catch

Is what you are praying for going to glorify God once you receive it?

The Lord also said “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” John 14:13

God is a generously giving God because He is love and love is about giving, remember?

He can give us our heart’s desire, but first we need to be satisfied with just Him.

He does not need us but chose us to promote His Kingdom.

He wants us and desires us more than any man ever can…

God pursues you daily meanwhile you may be waiting months and even years for someone else to. It is an honor to be wanted and chosen by God. It is a privilege that many do not understand.

Let the doors of your heart be wide open for Him to pour in the waters of His joy, patience, and peace.

Only God can quench your thirst sis–

Fix your gaze so you can be satisfied in your singleness.
